Where to eat in Tokyo: Madosh, Harajuku – the avocado place

A few days ago, I had breakfast at an avocado fast food place that just opened in Bucharest (my home town), which reminded me of a similar themed restaurant I discovered this year in Tokyo and I’ve been planning to write about.

The place is called Madosh, it’s located in Harajuku neighborhood Google Maps link – basically, where all the hipsters and most expensive shops are, and all dishes in the menu are avocado-based.

For 1,800 Japanese yen (that’s 66 lei or 14 Euro), you can get a lunch combo that includes a drink (a huge avocado lemonade), an avocado-based cream soup (best thing ever!), and a main dish – a salad or curry, both vegetarian and meat options.

You can also have refills for soft drinks and soup as many times as you want, though you won’t need to – the dish sizes are huge, we weren’t able to finish everything on our plates.

It was actually the only place where we went to eat twice while in Japan. When we travel somewhere for the first time, we’d rather experience new places than go twice to the same restaurant, but the food there was just THAT good. Low cost, high value.

You can see below a few pics of what we had. For more, check out their Instagram account. The lunch menu combo is available between 11:30 and 17:00.

So, if you ever happen to travel to Tokyo, don’t miss this place, even if you’re not a big avocado fan.
